Utah's 3rd District Court may soon be getting a new judge for its juvenile court.

Rep. David Hogue's HB229 passed out of the Judiciary Committee on Tuesday and will now advance to the House for full debate.

The bill appropriates enough money to hire two law clerks and one judge, who will roam among Tooele County, Summit County and West Jordan.

Although hiring a new judge for the 4th District Court is a higher priority, passing the bill is "critical to the juvenile system," the Riverton Republican said.
