Utah terrorism funds exceed $8 million
The state of Utah will receive more than $8 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the money has not been officially awarded, but the state expects to receive $8.27 million from the federal government for training, equipment, exercises and planning. In a statement released Wednesday, the DPS said it would appropriate $6.6 million to local agencies.
Utah's share is part of $1.7 billion being awarded across the country to agencies to handle terrorism incidents and other emergencies.
