What's next
The church will also seek city permits for items including excavation for parking, creation of parking, access to the project site and building.
Only one construction element now appears to need Salt Lake City Council approval: a proposed sky-bridge, which would require the council to sign off on an exception to current zoning.
This month, the church will gather public comment via a Web site, downtownrising.com, and with open houses at sites throughout the city.
Demolition of the existing malls is expected to begin in November.
By January, retail stores in the demolition area will be closed.
By next spring, the church plans to conclude agreements with retailers who will occupy the new development.
Architectural drawings for the development will be completed by 2007.
The church expects the project to be finished by mid-2011.
