$10,000 OK'd to pay for trees, teams' golf
PROVO The Provo City Council has approved $10,000 to replace trees lost at Provo's East Bay golf course during the supercell storm in August and free golf for the city's high school golf teams.
The Reserve at East Bay lost more than 130 trees during the Aug. 1 storm. The City Council used a miscellaneous project fund to replace some of them.
Up to 12 players on each of the Timpview and Provo high school golf teams will be allowed to play for free on the East Bay course during the high school golf season.
The city refused to allow team members to play for free year-round, because of the expense and because it would be impossible to know who was a team member when the teams weren't in season.
The city will provide the teams with six free junior punch tickets to the driving range. Each punch ticket is good for 20 medium buckets of practice range golf balls, a value of $270.
