PROVO — Now there are 10 candidates to replace Rep. Jeff Alexander, R-Provo.

Former state senator Rulon Garfield's letter of intent arrived Saturday in the post-office box of the Utah County Republican Party. It was postmarked before 5 p.m. on Friday, so Garfield joins the other nine candidates for the District 62 seat in the state Legislature.

Alexander is resigning to return to business and work part time for Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. on Jan. 1. On Jan. 2, delegates living in the Provo district will meet to elect Alexander's replacement.

The other nine candidates are Brent Ashworth, William Shipper Clawson, John Curtis, Chris Herrod, Dennis Hoaglund, Grant Misbach, David Starling, Charles H. "Chuck" Stewart and Paul Warner.
