Utah gas prices dropping
The average price for a gallon of regular, self-serve gasoline in Utah is $2.28, 1 cent lower than the national average, AAA Utah said. The current national average price is up 6 cents from last month and 11 cents from a year ago, according to AAA.
All of the Utah cities surveyed by AAA reported lower average prices. The current average price in Provo is $2.21, 3 cents lower than last month. Ogden, at an average per-gallon price of $2.25, reported a 6-cent decrease, while Salt Lake motorists saw prices drop an average of 5 cents in the past month. The current average price in Salt Lake is $2.21.
The state's highest average price is in Moab, which saw a 6-cent drop to $2.45, according to the AAA survey.
Utah is running mid-pack when compared to its neighbors. Idaho reported an average per-gallon price of $2.38, AAA reported, while Wyoming's average price fell 3 cents to $2.26. Motorists in Colorado paid an average of $2.21 for a gallon of regular gasoline.
AAA Utah surveys a limited number of communities across the state in its monthly gas report. Individual service stations sell gas at both higher and lower prices, sometimes in the same city block. AAA's report focuses on self-serve regular gasoline without regard to its octane level.
