4 schools in Granite to get 100% Kids $$
$5,000 to Twin Peaks Elementary
$5,000 to Hartvigsen Elementary
$3,725 to Scott M. Matheson Junior High
$2,000 to Robert Frost Elementary
As part of a unique program from children with special needs, Twin Peaks and Hartvigsen Elementary Schools will use the grants to fund a Play and Learn center that will address reading, writing, creating, painting, movement, turn-taking skills, social interaction and initiations. The program is designed to meet goals and objectives of any individualized education plan (IEPs) for a child of special needs.
Teachers at Scott M. Matheson plan to purchase the Alphasmart handheld word processor to improve their language arts classes. The project will be used to directly enhance the teaching and assessment of core academic instruction in writing.
Robert Frost Elementary will use the grant money to purchase leveled reading book sets specifically for kindergarten-aged learning. With these books, students can meet the core academic guidelines for literacy, mathematics and science.
