Daily Demos seeking top party posts
The group was formed to create a platform for four candidates for the Utah County Democratic Party executive committee, said Mary Lou Huffmon.
Huffmon is running for chairwoman of the county party committee. Kena Jo Mathews is running for vice chairwoman, Chris Stowe for treasurer and Millicent Lewis for secretary.
The candidates say they are committed to reactivating the party base and rebuilding the party infrastructure in order to achieve immediate results.
The Daily Democrats' platform includes creating a clear message, a permanent infrastructure, grassroots involvement, steady sources of funds and candidate recruitment and support, Mathews said.
All Utah County Democrats can vote on the party leadership May 8 at the Utah County Democratic Convention in the Provo City Council Chambers, 351 W. Center. The convention will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Huffmon, a retired reading specialist, has been active in the League of Women Voters and the Utah County and state Democratic parties. She serves as issues chairwoman of the state Democratic Women's Caucus.
Stowe, a Brigham Young University student majoring in American studies, is the president of the Young Democrats of Utah County.
Lewis, a stay-at-home mom and local artist, is the special events chair of the Utah County Democratic Party.
