Sandy takes steps to give funds to Real
SANDY The Sandy City Council on Tuesday night authorized the first steps of an agreement to give Real Salt Lake $10 million for site improvements at the soccer stadium.
Staff will now move forward with preparing a draft Community Development Project Area plan. That community-development area, an arm of the Redevelopment Agency, lets the city help fund infrastructure costs for items like curbs and sewer lines around the stadium.
In addition, the City Council, which doubles as the RDA board, discussed an interlocal agreement and development agreement revolving around the Sandy stadium. That interlocal agreement between Sandy, Sandy RDA and the Governor's Office of Economic Development outlines the state's terms to give Real $35 million in hotel-room taxes.
A public hearing will be held May 8 with the City Council to discuss the interlocal agreement.
