Comments sought on scenic rivers
The U.S. Forest Service will be gathering public comment this week on several rivers in Utah, Wasatch and Summit counties that have been proposed to be included in the National Wild and Scenic River system.
The Forest Service will host three open houses this week:
- Heber City on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Wasatch County Senior Center, 465 E. 1200 South.
- Oakley on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at City Hall, 960 W. Center.
- Provo on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Marriott Courtyard, located at 1600 N. Freedom Blvd.
At the open houses, the Forest Service will provide information on the rivers that are being studied and what a protection status would mean for the rivers. The service will also collect public comments that will be used in the decision making process on what rivers to consider.
More information on the study can be found on the Forest Service Web site at www.fs.fed.us/r4/rivers.
