Taylorsville man rescued after fall in Big Cottonwood Canyon
The man was in the area with his family and decided to go hiking, according to Salt Lake County Sheriff public information officer Paul Jaroscak. He got into an area that was nearly vertical, lost his footing and fell. Family members who were also hiking in the area discovered the man and some administered first aid while others sought help.
When search and rescue crews arrived, they had to belay the man down the mountain because of the steepness of the slope. He was flown to University Hospital where he was in serious condition with a leg fracture, multiple facial lacerations and a wrist injury, Jaroscak said.
