Parents killed, children injured in a car crash
Stephanie D. McFarland, 38, lost control of the vehicle she was driving, crashed into a median and then hit a reflector pole at about 7 a.m., said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden. The car continued eastbound where it hit a wire-mesh fence and was vaulted into the air over state Route 259.
Investigators were not immediately sure what caused the woman to crash.
McFarland and her husband, Tod McFarland, 37, both of Carlsbad, Calif., were killed in the crash. A 7-year-old boy was still in critical condition Thursday evening.
A 5-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were also hurt, but their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening, Roden said.
