Man facing charges in rape of 11-year-old girl

A man charged with seven counts of felony rape of a child made his first court appearance Friday.

The man was arrested Wednesday night after he called police and admitted to sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl. The 49-year-old man had already been under investigation after the girl said she had been molested and raped by her dad over the last six months.

The man, who is also charged with one count of aggravated sex abuse of a child, was booked into the Weber County Jail where he remains on $160,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 30.

The Deseret News is not identifying the man because it would identify the alleged sex abuse victim.
