Two candidates named for East Jordan superintendent

The newly formed East Jordan School Board is announcing two finalists for the position of East Jordan District superintendent: Martin Bates and Dave Doty.

Bates is an assistant superintendent for Granite School District and has worked in Granite district for the past 12 years. He received his doctorate of philosophy and juris doctorate from Brigham Young University.

Doty is assistant commissioner and director of policy studies with the Utah System of Higher Education. He has worked with USHE for the past three years and received his doctorate of philosophy and juris doctorate from BYU.

The board will be conducting site visits and a second round of interviews with the two finalists within the next few weeks.

The board hopes to fill the superintendent position as early as Aug. 19.
