EAGLE MOUNTAIN — Police arrested a 38-year-old man Wednesday after he allegedly tried to kill his estranged wife and her boyfriend in front of their children.

Utah County sheriff's deputies arrived at a house on Kennekuk Circle in Eagle Mountain to check out a report of family problems. According to a police affidavit, the officers saw two girls run from the house, screaming, "He killed my mom."

Officers entered the house and found a man holding two large knives. They quickly secured him and found a woman, the man's estranged wife, and her boyfriend locked in the master bathroom. The woman told officers that the man threatened to kill her, her boyfriend and himself in front of their children. There were five children, ages 4 to 11, in the home at the time.
