Marshmallow Popcorn Balls

Ingredients

1 package (16 ounces) marshmallows
1/2 cup butter
Food coloring
12-14 cups popped corn
Optional mix-ins: gumdrops, M & Ms, nuts, etc.
Plastic wrap or cellophane

Place marshmallows and butter in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high until melted, about 1 minute. Stir until smooth. If desired, add several drops of food coloring and stir thoroughly. Remove any unpopped kernels from popcorn. Gradually fold popped corn and mix-ins into marshmallow mixture, adding more popcorn as necessary so mixture isn't too sticky. Mix until well-coated. When coated popcorn is cool enough to handle, place 1 cup into the center of a 10-inch square of plastic wrap. Shape into balls. Twist wrap and tie securely. Makes about 10 popcorn balls.


Directions

Variation: For Rocky Road popcorn balls, mix in 2 cups nuts and 2 cups chocolate chips.
