Ingredients

Pam or soft butter for greasing the bowl
1 quart (4 cups) lime sherbet
1 pint (2 cups) pineapple sherbet
1 quart (4 cups) raspberry sherbet
1 cup mini chocolate chips

Directions

Equipment needed: measuring cups and spoons, 1 1/2-2 quart mixing bowl, plastic wrap, large tablespoon, rubber spatula, large round serving plate with lip, sharp knife

1. Spray Pam into the mixing bowl. Line the bowl with 2 long pieces of plastic wrap, leaving enough hanging over the edge to cover the top. Place the bowl in the freezer. Remove the lime sherbet from the freezer and set it on a work surface to soften for about 20 minutes. (Set a timer so you won't forget it and have a mess on the counter!)

2. When the lime sherbet is soft enough to spread, remove the bowl from the freezer and set it on the work surface. Drop spoonfuls of the lime sherbet around the inside of the bowl. Smooth the sherbet with the rubber spatula until it forms an even layer. Return the bowl to the freezer. Remove the pineapple sherbet to soften for 20 minutes. (Set the timer again.)

3. When the pineapple sherbet is soft enough to spread and the lime sherbet is firm, remove the bowl from the freezer and set it on the work surface. Drop some spoonfuls of the pineapple sherbet over the lime layer. Spread it the same way as in step 2. Return the bowl to the freezer. Remove the raspberry sherbet from the freezer for 20 minutes. (Set a timer.)

4. When the raspberry sherbet is soft enough to spread and the pineapple sherbet is firm, remove the bowl from the freezer. Stir the cup of mini chocolate chips into the raspberry sherbet. Spoon the raspberry sherbet mixture into the center and smooth the top. Fold the plastic wrap over the top to cover. Freeze until hard, about 6 hours.

5. To serve, get the plate ready, then remove the bowl from the freezer and peel back the plastic wrap from the top. Turn the bowl over onto the plate. Lift the edge of the bowl with one hand to loosen the bombe from it. Remove the bowl and peel off the plastic wrap. Ask an adult to help you cut the bombe into slices, using the knife dipped in hot tap water.
