Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
28-ounce can tomatoes, diced
2 cups water
2-3 cans beef consomme
1 can tomato soup
4 carrots, diced
1 bay leaf
3 sticks celery, chopped
Parsley to taste
Pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon thyme
8 tablespoons pearl barley


Directions

Brown beef and onion. Drain fat. Mix remaining ingredients together and simmer on top of stove for 2 hours or more. Stir occasionally. Serves 10-12.
