Barley Soup, or "Jacmenova Polievka"

Ingredients

1 cup barley
1/2 pound ham
1 cup navy beans
3 cups diced carrots
1 cup diced celery
2 medium onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped fine
1 bay leaf
1 sprig parsley, chopped


Directions

Rinse barley well. Place barley, ham and beans in a large pot. Add carrots, celery, onions, garlic and bay leaf and simmer 1 hour. Sprinkle parsley over soup before serving. Serves 6.
