Ingredients

4 firm bananas
1 1/2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
Salt

Peel bananas. Place into well-greased baking dish. Brush well with butter or margarine and sprinkle lightly with salt. Bake in a moderate oven (375 degrees F.) 15 to 18 minutes, or until bananas are tender and easily pierced with a fork. Serve hot as a vegetable or as a dessert with cream, syrup or hot fruit sauce.

Directions

Variations:

Curry bananas: Pour 1 1/2 cups of your favorite curry sauce over bananas. Bake as above. Serve hot with rice, pork, lamb, duck or shrimp.

With sour cream: To serve as a vegetable, top each hot banana with dollop of sour cream. Sprinkle with paprika.

With cranberries: Pour 3/4 cup cranberry sauce over bananas. Bake as above. Serve hot with beef, chicken or turkey. Tart jams, jellies or marmalades may be used in place of cranberry sauce.
