Brown Rice
Ingredients
1 cup Uncle Ben's Converted Rice (not instant)
1/3 cup butter
2 10 1/2-ounce cans condensed beef consomme (undiluted)
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt (or more) to taste
1 bunch green onions (with tops), cleaned and sliced
Directions
Melt butter in a skillet; add rice and saute until light golden in color. Add the beef consomme (do not add water) and bring to a simmer. Add onion powder, salt and pepper and pour rice into a buttered ovenproof baking dish. Cover and bake in preheated 350 degree F oven for 45-55 minutes or until liquid is absorbed. Place rice in serving dish and sprinkle with sliced green onions. Serves 6.
Each serving contains 135 calories, 11g fat, 8g carb, 517mg sodium, 28mg cholesterol 70% calories from fat.
