Author: Scripps Howard News Service/"Breakfast with Friends: Seasonal Menus to Celebrate the Morning"
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds golden delicious apples
2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) unsalted butter
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup (2 ounces) walnuts, coarsely chopped
2 tablespoons honey
Directions
Heat oven to 375 degrees. Quarter and core, but don't peel, the apples. Slice apples into wedges about 1/2-inch thick and put into a baking dish about 11 by 7 inches.
Melt butter in a medium-size saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat, add remaining ingredients and stir until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake 35 to 40 minutes, until topping is crisp and browned and apples are tender. Serve warm. Serves 5. From "Breakfast with Friends: Seasonal Menus to Celebrate the Morning" by Elizabeth Alston.
