Cherry Chip Bread
Ingredients
Preparation time: 20 minutes
Yield: 1 loaf
2 cups plus 3 tablespoons flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup butter or margarine
3/4 cup water
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Directions
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cut butter into dry ingredients with a pastry blender. Stir in water and egg. Fold in cherries and chocolate chips.
Pour batter into greased 9X5X3-inch loaf pan. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven and 45 to 55 minutes.
Let cool in pan 10 minutes then remove to wire rack to cool completely. Wrap in cellophane for gift-giving.
Each serving contains 232 calories, 7 g fat, 42 g carb, 207 mg sodium, 19 mg cholesterol.
