Pizza Supreme Pie

Ingredients

3 loaves honey wheat frozen bread, thawed
4 pounds hot or mild Italian sausage
2 onions, chopped
2 green peppers, chopped
4 cans (8 oz.) mushrooms, sliced
1-2 teaspoons garlic salt or to taste
2 teaspoons oregano
2 teaspoons basil
2 cans (8 oz.) tomato sauce
4 cups mozzarella cheese, grated
3-4 eggs

Chicken Supreme Pie:
1 loaf honey wheat frozen bread, thawed
4 cups chicken, cooked and cubed
14 slices bacon, fried and crumbled
2 cups Monterey Jack or mozzarella cheese, grated
1 large onion, chopped
1 teaspoon garlic salt
3/4 teaspoon ginger
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2/3 cup mayonnaise
2 eggs


Directions

Cut thawed loaves into 1/3 and 2/3 portions. Roll 2/3 portion into a large circle; press dough over bottom and up sides of greased 10-inch springform pan. Repeat with other two loaves; set aside. Reserve 1/3 portions

Brown sausage; drain, leaving 2-3 tablespoons drippings. Add onions and pepper; saute. Add remaining ingredients and stir to blend. Divide filling between 3 prepared pans.

Roll 1/3 portions of loaf into circles; cut into 5-6 pie-shaped triangles. Overlap triangles on top of pizza filling. Seal the bottom crust to the top crust; crimp edges. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Makes 10-15 servings; can be served hot or cold. (Pies can be baked ahead, then frozen.)

For chicken pie, prepare single loaf of bread according to above directions. Combine all ingredients, place in prepared crust and bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Makes 10-15 servings.

Each serving of chicken pie contains 669 calories; 28 gm fat; 28 gm carbohydrate; 985 mg sodium; 209 mg cholesterol.
