Best-Ever Apple Pudding

Ingredients

Preparation time: 15 minutes plus baking time
Yield: 12 servings

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup margarine, softened
2 eggs
4 large apples, grated (about 4 cups)
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Sauce:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup light cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Dash of nutmeg


Directions

Cream margarine and sugar; add eggs and blend. Peel, core and grate apples; stir into creamed mixture. Stir in dry ingredients; add walnuts. Pour into 2 greased 8-inch square pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes.

For sauce, combine butter, sugar and cream; cook over low heat for 12-15 minutes or until thickened. Stir in vanilla and nutmeg; serve warm.

Each serving with sauce contains 479 calories; 23 gm fat; 308 mg sodium; 68 mg cholesterol.
