Date Coconut Cookies

Ingredients
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 pound dates, chopped
2 cups crispy rice cereal
1 cup nuts, chopped
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
Directions
Melt butter in fry pan. Blend sugar, eggs and dates. Stir sugar mixture into melted butter and cook over medium heat until mixture thickens, stirring constantly. Cool slightly; add cereal, nuts and vanilla. Drop by spoonsful into coconuts and roll into balls. Store covered in refrigerator. Makes about 40 cookies.
