Brownies
Ingredients
1 cup margarine
1/2 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
Frosting:
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1/2 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 pound (4 cups) powdered sugar
Hot water
Nuts, optional
Directions
Melt margarine in large saucepan. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients, one at a time, beating after each addition. Pour into greased 9-by-13-inch pan; bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
For frosting, blend all ingredients together; beat until smooth. Add only enough hot water to bring texture to spreading consistency. Nuts can either be added to the frosting itself or sprinkled on the top. Makes about 3 dozen brownies. From Rep. Jim Hansen, R-Utah.
