Ingredients
Preparation time: 50 minutes
Yield: 8 servings
1/3 cup onion, chopped
1/3 cup celery, chopped
2 tablespoons green pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 can (14 1/2 oz.) whole tomatoes
4 1/2 cups fresh green beans, cut in 1-inch pieces
Directions
Saute onions, celery, green peppers and garlic in butter or margarine. Stir in sugar, salt, Italian seasoning and pepper.
Add tomatoes and green beans; cover and bring to a boil. Simmer about 40 minutes or until beans reach desired tenderness.
Each serving contains 44 calories; 2 gm fat; 419 mg sodium; 0 mg cholesterol.
