Traditional Bolognese Sauce

Ingredients

You can brown ground beef in your crockery cooker.

1 pound lean ground beef
1/2 pound Italian sausage, casing removed
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 small carrot, grated
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 small green or red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 (28-ounce) can diced, peeled tomatoes
2 (6-ounce) cans tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper


Directions

Turn slow cooker on high. Add ground beef and sausage. Cook and stir until meat is broken up into small pieces. When cooked, turn pot to low. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on low 8-9 hours. Spoon over your favorite pasta.
