Note: If you omit the nuts, this recipe fits into a 26-ounce jar, the type that spaghetti sauce comes in.
In a one-quart jar, layer ingredients in the following order:

4 ounces nuts (optional)
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup oats
1 1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon soda
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
Directions for gift card:
Beat together one cube butter, 1 egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Add top two layers of mix and cream well. Add middle two layers of mix and beat. Then stir in the bottom two layers of the mix. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 12 minutes.
