Ingredients

Directions
3 packages (10 oz.) frozen French-style green beans
2 cans (8 oz.) water chestnuts, sliced
1 can (8 oz.) mushrooms, stems and pieces
1/2 cup almonds
Sauce:
1/4 cup butter
1 medium onion, diced
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
1 cup light cream
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
1 teaspoon soy sauce
Cook beans in boiling water according to package direction. Put beans, water chestnuts and mushrooms in 3-quart baking dish in alternating layers.
For sauce, melt butter in heavy saucepan. Add onion and saute until golden; blend in flour. Add milk and light cream. Stir constantly until mixture thickens. Blend in cheese and seasonings. Pour over bean mixture in casserole. Top with sliced almonds. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly and slightly browned.
