ALEX MCARTHUR PLAYS A FASCINATING PLAYBOY IN THE MOVIE "THE SPIRAL STAIRCASE" The modern version in colours of the classic movie "The spiral staircase" based on the novel by Ethel Lina White "Some must watch" from a screenplay by Mel Dinelli to the television play by Matt Dorff, this movie presents itself as enthralling and aesthetically interesting. In this thriller, an ancient and splendid mansion with a big park, it's the theatre where an hidden serial killer roams around. Inside the home, there are an austere housekeeper Rachel, a talky cook Sarah who likes sometimes to have alcholic drinks and a shy mute social worker Helen, Nicolette Sheridan employed for the mistress Emma Warren with two brothers, Phillip Warren, Judd Nelson and Steven Warren, Alex McArthur. Between them there isn't much understanding being of different temperaments. Phillip is a calm, intellectual guy who takes care of the house affairs, having also a job as college professor, Steven is instead an attractive, sophisticated playboy, just an hedonist who loves to travel, to spend money. The sheriff Bell, William McDonald is in charge to investigate a crime, starting to interrogate everybody, a tropical storm arrives on the coast of the island, they find themselves in the darkness of the house from the bedrooms, dining room, the cellar and a spiral staircase around a sequence of exciting scenes. Steven who is among the principal suspected person, he reacts with a cheecky behaviour, he can be susceptible, aggressive or he can show himself gentle, cheerful, bringing with his character vivacity to the company. Doing some suppositions while he's enjoying a good glass of liqueur at the table of the kitchen, Steven, Alex McArthur talks openly with the cook, then he meets Phillip, Judd Nelson in the library studio. Trying to have some explanations they will discover the authors of all the matter. In the sceneries of spiral staircase around the furnished house interiors, following to the inquiries and conversations through the beautiful foregrounds, the film creates an enchanting ambience with very good performances of the actors. "VIGILANTE COP" film review ALEX MCARTHUR PLAYS "VIGILANTE COP" A WILD POLICEMAN IN UNIFORM. An interesting psychological topic is "Vigilante cop". In this movie a policeman becomes very addicted to his own job. Going around on police raids, he abuses of his agent authority, committing crimes. Based on a story in San Antonio, Texas of two policemen who go to the streets as best friends becoming antagonists,in this tv movie by director Mel Damski, also titled as "Shoot first a cop's vengeance", Dale Midkiff as the police academy pal, Alex McArthur performs as the energetic rogue Stephen Smith police officer who turns vigilante killer. Hello, for the readers'reviews I send you these new opinions concerning films I like of movie Rampage's actor Alex McArthur. "DESPERADO" film review. ALEX MCARTHUR PERFORMING AS COWBOY DUELL MCCALL CHARMES OF SIMPLICITY. A kind of romantic behind rustic cowboy look, the american actor Alex McArthur fascinates his public in the role of Duell McCall for television film series "Desperado". Wearing his boots with spurs, the shirt under leather waistcoat, vaquero trousers, a large hat in ranchero style, Duell McCall rides his saddled horse travelling across desert, valleys, open wide territories. McCall coming along a small mining village, he's implicated in a business rivalry, accused of a murder not committed, he escapes from prison, he wanders the wild frontier searching to assert his innocence. Moving on to other adventures through wild rocky landscapes of Arizona, New Mexico with the beautiful music soundtrack of Eagles describing inward feelings of this tramp cowboy in the "Return of Desperado", "Avalanche at devil's bridge", "The outlaw wars", "Badlands justice" movie series, he walks pioneer towns where there are cattle ranchs. Talking with people at entertaining western saloons, fighting among feuds in his heroic exploits, McCall is able to establish the respect of law. It's liking to see of him Duell McCall is a strong, honest independent man. Alex McArthur looks great in these "Desperado" television movies. ANNA SCIACCA c/o Il Giornale di Boves

ALEX MCARTHUR IN RAMPAGE MOVIE: PRETTY BLOODY CHARLES REECE The reportage of a real serial killer becoms the subject for a novel by William P. Wood and for the movie "Rampage" by William Friedkin. The film "Rampage" opens with the scene in the suburbs of a town where Charles Reece, Alex McArthur, he's a nice free and easy guy, looking a little enigmatic behind a pair of sunglasses, wearing a red coat, he walks towards a house. Then he shoots to the persons inside, using a gun brought at a shop, starting in a series of homicides. Charles Reece carries out these crimes because he's convicted that he must to feed himself with other people's blood to remedy his own blood. In psychiatric criminology, perhaps he could be considered a visionary serial killer. His obsessions lead him to continue in these murders. Visiting the Tippets' house, he makes another massacre, but some of them are not at home, so they're on safe, Tipetts, Royce d. Applegate, can give a description of this psychopatic. Policemen start to effect an inspection at Reece's house, talking with his mother performed by Grace Zabriskie, to understand something about Charles Reece's personality. For the police when suspects become certainty, detectives go to a fuel station where Charles Reece works. This is one of the most charming scenes, to see how Reece shows himself sly, polite, lying to detectives' questions. Trying to swindle them, he searchs to escape. When detectives incriminate him, going to prison Reece makes some examinations, also he must to be at various court's hearings. In the movie it's interesting the psychological dialogue in the prison cell when Charles Reece wearing a detention suit, he's interrogated by policemen, giving them an hallucinated statement of the reasons who have pushed him to do all those murders. The procurator Anthony Fraser, Michael Biehn, must to meet to a hard trial which it also becomes a subject of coscience. Public prosecutors want to accuse Reece of voluntary homicide for all the murders, while psychiatric authorities charged by the defence lawyers work about his insanity. So they ask themselves what to do: the execution or the internment at a criminal asylum. During the law court's hearings, Charles Reece seems normal. Alex McArthur performs him with the look of a good guy. Reece wearing a stylish suit, he looks with blue eyes at the public, it seems like to search for comprehension while people look at him, asking themselves how he could have done those actions. And still Charles Reece is unforeseeable. In fact when he's escorted by warders from the prison, Reece smiles with them to socialize. It's when he attacks them, trying to escape. In the structure of the movie characterized of symbolic sequences, one of the most remarkable scenes it's when Reece puts blood on his skin with a tiger on the background. It seems to express an explosive primeval ferocity in the abyss of his madness. Tracked he comes back to prison and when the sentence of guilty is proounced, a series of analysis demonstrate his mental sickness. In the new version of "Rampage" when the Tippetts go to a fair among lights and entertainments, Charles Reece writes a letter behind the prison bars. The american version of "Rampage" on screening at Torino film festival, in italian version it's titled "Assassino senza colpa" on video, "Ritratto di un serial killer" for television.
