Reader comments: Tango & Cash

despite the bad reviews i thought this was a good movie, i will watch it again and again. I thought Sly and Kurt were a great team. I just look at it for entertainment not for realism

I've come to realize this movie wasn't exactly the world's most popular. I've read a couple of reviews, and all say the same thing it seems, 'sylvester's worse'....i love this movie though, despite the fact it can be kind of draggy at times, sylvester makes this movie good, and he's good in it, funny too.

TANGO & CASH IS ONE OF BEST MOVIES I"VE SEEN-SLY'S SECOND BEST!!! This movie is a great success. Anyone who says this movie sucks must have bad taste in movies. Sly Stallone is cool as Detective-Lieutenant Ray Tango, the banker-dressing Wall Street narc. Kurt Russell is jusy as good as his arch-rival turned partner, Detective-Lieutenant Gabriel Cash. This is different from other Stallone movies because there is much more comedy to it, while most of his other movies like Rocky and Demolition Man are much more serious. If i had to say what my favorite part of this movie was, it would most likely be the part where Tango and Cash are introduced to the untouchable truck. I just wish they would have given Teri Hatcher's role more stature. If she can play Lois Lane alongside Dean Cain in The New Adventures Of Superman and make the show worth watching on account of her sex appeal, the producers of Tango & Cash should have made her role more important. Hatcher, who plays Tango's sister and Cash's love intrest, an exotic dancer named Kiki(Her real name is Catherine), is made out by the producers to be the worst member of the cast. She is seen even more rarely than Boss Purret(Jack Palance), Speaking of Palance, i wish they would have left out a comment he as Purret made near the end of the movie. The particular comment is: "When the one great scorer marks against your mame, he'll mark that you won or lost, but how you played the game, what bullshit." The bullshit part should have been left out. The reason i say this is because Mr. Palance, an avid baseball and old Brooklyn Dodger fan, made a similar comment as a guest narator in a baseball documentary about his love for the game and the Dodgers. But his Tango and Cash comment too much contradicts his actual personality. Other than that, this movie is more than worth renting or buying, especially if you're an avid Stallone or Kurt Russell fan. I gave this movie 4 stars because it was the maximum, but if i could give it more stars, i would be forced to still give it only 4 because Demolition Man beats this movie just barely. But as i said, it's still more than worth watching.

I would give it 5 stars but there was no provision for this. This film would have to be one of the greatest of all time. The chemistry between Ray Tango and Gabe Cash was absolutely brilliant. It was a classic tale of Bad Cop, Worse Cop!!! It has paved the way for many great movies since. Even though they may not say it, All good directors have used aspects of this film to create some of their best releases since. I would love to see a second one, But don't know if such a chemistry between all these fine actors would be the same, Especially missing the antics of the late great Englishman Brion James. Forget the critics reviews, you should see what Tango & Cash is really about. It's themes revolve around issues such as revenge, greed, honour , friendship and love. It's characters intermix to create a web of stories that explode onto the screen that give this movie its vital flavour. Stallone and Russell light up the screen and work of each other expertly to keep the viewer intrigued for the whole movie. Forget City Slickers, this was Palance's finest movie as he gives his character real power and depth as an underworld crime boss. The starlet, Teri Hatcher, added real zing and was fine as Tango's vagabond sister. Tango & Cash is a vital cog for the action movie genre. This film delves where no movie has gone before and has set the scene for other such classics as 'Another 48 hrs' , 'Lethal Weapon 2,3,4" and 'Bad Boys' Truly, a cinematic masterpiece.

Actually, I'd say that Lock Up was worse than this awful tripe. Whatever, this derivative dud is quite a mess. And a special note: the same producers who produced the Batman films, Jon Peters and Peter Guber, were the producers of this cloddish action thud.

I think tango and cash was a great movie, definately not Stallones worst. Stallone is a great actor and he has made a heap of great movies, you cant say that tabgo and cash was his worst movie because all of his movies are great and you cant compare them. Anyway thats what i think and i recon that there is heaps of other people out there that would agree with me.

The box the movie comes in states "bubby cop movie". It is just that. I really enjoyed the movie and found it entertaining, I thought the action was good and people weren't just being "sliced and diced" as in alot of other movies. While being a good action flick, it was "lighthearted" in the sense there wasn't an overload of profanity and blood...funny movie also...watch it quite often..

"Tango and Cash," the best film of all time, was snubbed at the Academy Awards. This tragic selfish act by the voters and the academy ranks second to none as being the most tragic event in human history. Leave it to cynical baby boomer film critics to write negative reviews about this great work! I mean, you just can't trust these critics to write a decent review. Just like they ripped "Weird Science," they slaughtered "Tango and Cash." I love this movie, and it's not too late to start a petition for a sequel. All of the original actors are still alive! Someone please take leadership like Ray Tango did and get the wheels turning for another "Tango & Cash." I think it's safe to say that the "Tango & Cash" phenomenon paved the way for the economic prosperity we now enjoy.

THE BEST FILM EVER I'VE SEEN IT 7 TIMES I NEVER GET BORED.. "THERE'S A LOT OF NRW POLUTION IN THE AIR AND THEY CALL IT PERRET"
DANNY | Apr. 11, 2000
This film is excellent, the action scenes are some of the best from it's time. Some of the one liners are just sheer brilliance and very humourous to say the least. Leave this film alone

I thought the movie was pretty damn good. To say these stunts were over the top and then mention Lethal Weapon makes no sense. Action movies are supposed to be over the top. Kurt Russel and Stallone trade some pretty clever lines and there were some good jokes in there as well. Quit ragging on this movie as you obviously don't have a clue.
TOMMYV | Jun. 4, 1999
man, this movies sucks! aside it being one of usa's favorite sunday afternoon pud toughguy flicks, it really blows! i guess my favorite part would hafta be when they're in prison and they are taken to the boiler room and cash says who invited these guys and stallone replied "well, i don't think its a surprise party." god i love that part!
