War and realtionships, you can always make a movie about these two things. Great movie, good acting. Lots of pain and anger, a real tear jerker at some points. May we clean up the mess in Afganistan, and not let the devil get his way there anymore.
4 stars out of 5.

This is an incredible story. Having been to Kabul with the Air Force, I can tell you that kites are flying in the Afghan sky again.

I am glad the trailer doesn't say why the kites are significant because it's the thread which runs through the whole story and makes it so poignant. I have read the book. I had my eyes opened to a country whose heritage is rich and full and goes back thoursands of years. If they can make this movie even half as good as the book this is the one movie to see this holiday season because it embraces all we are celebrating whether Christian or Jew or Muslim that kite string runs through all our most important truths. it rises above the world's tawdry grasping for power and reveals how out of such evil love and compassion emerges victorious.
