Reader comments: Scary Movie 2
LEE | Mar. 2, 2002
Unlike the first one Scary Movie 2 is a hit and miss joke
movie. As where the first one was a non-stop riot, this one
seems to have some of the funniest jokes of 2001 and some
of the lamest. For no reason whatsoever thire's a nike
commerical spoof that is well bland and totsally unfunny
and also a whats lie beneath spoof that is painfully
overdone. But the exorcist spoof is one of the funniest
things i've seen ina while so it wasn't all that bad.

The movie was hilarious. I laughed from the opening scene
until the end. Yes, it is a silly movie, but if you didn't
know that before going in that was your fault, all you had
to do was see the first one. I heard a commit earlier
saying the only reason the black community saw the movie
was because it was by a black director, I just want to let
that person know they are completly wrong. I am a member
of the black community and I went to see it because I
enjoyed the first one so much and I was not let down by the
second one. If I just went to see movies for black
directors I would have went to see Baby Boy, a movie I
don't plan on seeing in my lifetime. I just like funny
movies and so do a lot of other people whether they are
from the black community or not.

I thought scary movie 2 was terrible! I sat there with 2
other guys and watched it. They thought it was great! But
honestly I thought the 1st 20 minutes of the movie was
great but then the rest went downhill! Way downhill! The
movie is stupid shorty gets smoked by a plant and that was
way dumb! This movie is trash! Dont see it!

TV ads for the movie make it appear as if the flix is just
a
comic parody of horror movies; but the truth is that this
"movie" is just a totally amoral and stunningly
disgustingly
pornographic spectacle which, if the filmmaker's aim was
all
along simply to corrupt public morality (intended to create
the premise that there is no sexual depravity/perversity
which is not perfectly normal and acceptable) could not be
much improved on. I think even "scarier" than the movie was
the audience in the theater in which I saw the "film" (it
incl. MANY children as young as 8 and 11... no doubt
brought
there by the misleading TV ads). But be warned that in one
scene a teenage girl rejoices that her very violent rape
was
"the best sex she's had!" And in the Exorcist parody scene,
when the possessed young girl screams out, "F-me! F-me!"
the
"priest" does precisely that. The language is even more
pornographically violent still; and unrelentingly so
throughout the whole movie. Artistically, there is no humor
here at all--only the sort of nauseating and repulsive
visuals (a jock with his penis pinched inside his tights
asking whether it looks better "in" or "out")... visuals
which people who are unexpectedly subjected to them usually
try to cope with either by nervous coughing or with a
right-down hysterical over-reaction (the adults in the
audience "laughed" a lot louder than the "jokes" merited
it,
while the children sat in absolute stone-cold silence
throughout... very probably forming the same sort of state
of mind child molesters aim for when they expose them to
hard porn in order to corrupt them into the perverted
notion
that these sickening forms of behavior are perfectly
acceptable). The children in that theater knew what the
adults apparently didn't want to acknowledge: Namely, that
this was NOT a funny film, just a series of sexually
deviant
and morally bankrupt visual-verbal degradations
specifically
designed to shock even those persons who once imagined
there
were few things left that could shock them. It does that;
that's all it does.
