Reader comments: Vanilla Sky

Vanilla Sky starts off slow then get's increasingly confusing, not a good formula for a piece of entertainment. Seems the director lost his grip on the material half way through & never recovered. The reviewer is correct in stating that the supporting cast put in much livelier performances, they did! Cruise is dull & moody for most of the film. I felt by the end as if i had just woken from a really wierd dream. Anyway I wouldnt recomend it.

cameron crowe has never made anything this daring before and vanilla sky is a great movie from start to finish. tom cruise delivers a knockout performance. cameron crowe's script and direction are superb. for all those critics who did not like vanilla sky i would say to them that you are missing out on a great and to view the film again. vanilla sky is one of the best movies of 2001. this is a truly great moviemaking. cameron crowe had delivered again.

My comment is rather an objection to the newspaper's critic. In my opinion, this film is far better then that ferry tail of 'Lord Of The Rings'. Regardless of it's inabillity to outdo the original version, which I haven't seen, it deals with a very important issue of our misconceptions of reallity, and as such presents a challenge to the viewrs own percetpions. It does make you think. On the other hand, 'Lord Of The Rings' whould much better fit the category of animated movies shown only in the early afternoon. The point is, Jeff Vice has rated 'Vanila Sky' with two points and the farry tail with four. His gauge, obviosly, has been broken.

I rate this movie a billion turkeys! It is the most complete load of infuriating crap I have ever seen. I left the theater angry about two things; first, that I paid money to sit through this crap, and second, that I didn't walk out after the first five minutes. Crap...crap...crap.

Unlike the low ratings this movie received, I was very intrigued. This movie was unlike any I've seen. I was twisted and turned only to find another lurking surprise. I highly recommend this film to anyone who wants to open thier eyes.

Although a remake, very original concepts, along with twists and turns that keep the watcher interested throughout. Amazing subtlty along the way culminating with a jaw-dropping matrix-esc conclusion. Cruise's best work to date.
