Reader comments: The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys

THE CAT | Jun. 29, 2002
This movie should be rated as one of the best creative films of the year. Four stars out of 4 ****. I am 56 years old and I loved every moment, the adolescent story of growing up and the creative "Spawn" cartoon that is interwoven shows creativity light years beyond anything that the movie critque of the DeseretNews apparently watches. It really should be rated PG-13 for the minimal use of sex-related profanity, minimal violence that does not control the film, and miniscule sexual humor and references. In fact, the best parts of "Dangerous Lives" are so clever that the DesNews movie critque missed the whole point of the movie, growing up as a kid in a repressive religious environment. How this movie critque missed the story line when he, himself, lives in a repressive and hypocritical religious culture is puzzling, or maybe not. I suggest readers realize the movie critque for the DesNews lives a sheltered life and fails to appreciate the true values in life. See the movie for yourself and laugh outloud as I did at this great sleeper of a movie. The Cat.
