Pretty cute! Definitely made me smile and I really appreciated the many children who had great talents (playing for REALS in the movie)

My wife and I went to this movie because we heard from friends that it was surprisingly good. They were right. The school children were very well played and the story was fun to watch in spite of its predictability. The only negative was that in some cases where a little of Jack Black would have sufficed, the director gave us a lot.

ya know .. orgill ... you did take an uptight view about this show ... its a movie .... its entertainment .... its fun ... i dont need to be a "foreshadowing" expert or a drama student to know that this movie is to laught "at" ... so when a slob becomes the hero .. i laught "at" it .. jack black is a funny dude and my kids, ages 12,9 and 7 begged me to go to this show ... i went after they had seen it already and we're going for their third time and my second time , and i saw lord of the rings 3 times ... we're going for family night ... dont be afraid to take the chitlins due to the pg13 rating ... get ya some chocolate, sneak in some ju ju bees ... sit back and laugh ... good old fashioned comedy that'll make you go back cause you miss parts cause you are laughing so hard

The more I think about it the more I like it, and I loved it in the theatre. it is easily Jack Blacks best movie. The show is funny from start to end, even the credits are funny. So if you like comedy go see this show

Well... ok... since I wrote my last review I went to see this terrific movie again. I admit that I was way too uptight and critical the first time. The School of Rock just rocks! Jack Black is incredibly talented and so are all the kids. Joan Cusack is a complete hoot! This film is a big ball of fun from beginning to end! (Don't leave until the credits are finished at the end. What fun!)

I saw this film with a theater full of teenagers, the target audience. They absolutely loved everything about it. They cheered. Film critics have been falling all over each other heaping praise on it. I got a kick out of it myself. Jack Black is a frenetic heap of talent who owns every scene of this boisterous, gleeful, romp of a movie. That said however, the message here is disturbing because it leads its young audience in exactly the wrong direction. It makes a hero of a do-nothing slob who knows and respects nothing but rock music. Most troubling is that, as a teacher, he belittles everything about education. He teaches his young, impressionable students that such subjects as math, science, history, geography and classical music are boring, useless and stupid--that rebellion against rules, teachers, parents and society ("stickin it to the man") is not only cool, but is the only praiseworthy attitude. I know, I know... it's just a movie. But children learn from movies.

Did i see the same movie as Jeff Vice? I like Jack Black, love comedy films, prefer films that tame down the sex and violence (and School of Rock wins on this criteria), and can enjoy films of all types. Unfortunately, I found this flick simply slow and lacking any real laughs. I thought it was amusing but not really funny. I thought Black's and Cusack's acting was fine. I didn't see the kids "connecting" to Black. The movie was clean and family fun but not funny.

School of Rock is the funniest and most entertaining film I have seen this year. It is pure unadulterated joy. It will melt your face of with ROCK! Seriously the film speaks to anyone who has ever felt like an outsider of any kind or who hopes to be more than the dull clone they feel they've become. It was engaging, hilarious, and manages to deal witha class of precocious kids with out resorting to Olsen Twins level cute factor (ugh!) Great fun with zero cheese and the music well...rocks! Great for the family and for weirdo Jack Black fans equally. ROCK!
