Our ratings in Canada are different from those in the US
and I understood that the US was stricter but after seeing
the movie I am surprised it was only PG-13 in US. The
story line was cute but the sexual content was far too
extreme and much too explicit. I am always disappointed
when I see children acting in a movie that has such sexual
content. I wish I had walked out but I kept hoping it
would get better. I wouldn't recommend this movie to any
of my friends simply because of the standards.

Amazing. I'm wondering if Jeff Vice and I saw the same
movie! It started out poor and only got worse. So bad in
fact, that in St. George, half of the theater (a
conservative estimate) got up and left 30 minutes into the
movie. In another theater in Salt Lake City, according to
a co-worker, all but 4 people left, again in the first 30
min. of the movie. Ben Affleck was cheesy and completely
unbelievable. In fact the only person that deserved any
sort of compliment was the little girl that played Gertie.
Jeff, you continue to amaze me...

Has to be the worst film I've ever seen. The ads make it
look cute, but it's profane and disjointed. A huge
dissapointment. I got ripped off on this one. Don't say I
didn't warn you.

It is astonishing to me that Jeff Vice gave a 3 and a half
star rating to this movie. I went to see it partly on the
strength of his rating. I was sadly disappointed. Jersey
Girl is the worst picture I have seen in years. People were
leaving right and left and I almost joined them. I held out
thinking that it had to get better. And it did, although
that isn't saying much. The scene with Will Smith near the
end was one of the best parts of the film, but it wasn't
worth enduring the rest of it. I found this movie trite and
highly predictable in terms of the final outcome. I was
distressed by the language put in the mouth of Raquel Castro
and by the sexually frank dialogue given to Liv Tyler.
Anyone interested in sexual propriety ought to take a pass
on this picture. I thought many of the transitions were
ragged and several of the situations torturously contrived,
expecially the scene where Raquel "interviews" the guilty
Ben and Liv. Any why didn't Jeff Vice speak of the
"obligatory poop jokes" that he seems to take delight in
mentioning for every other picture that includes them? He
did say "audiences should be warned that it does contain
some questionable and tasteless humor." I should have paid
more attention to that single bit of lucidity in his review.
