I didn't know squat about Howard Hughes. Pretty bad huh --
I'm 41 years old. The movie motivated me go to wikipedia
as a comparison to what I was seeing -- how much of this
was real, how much was artistic license. What a character
Hughes was.
Anyway, I turned the movie off after letting it go on for
far too long. The repetitive profanation of the names of
deity got to be too much. I should have checked the
opinions here first before renting it from the library.
My recommendation: pass on this one.

I'm glad to see everyone rates this film on what the
MPAA's possible mis-rating. Grow a spine or learn
something about film. Fantatstic film!

Please know that I am entirely separate person from those
who have already submitted reviews on this film, although
my review is very similar to what others have said. I
rented this DVD last night and watched the entire thing,
although it was very difficult to stomach.
I cannot believe the profanity in this film. It should
have been rated "R" for sure. I am offended when God and
Jesus' names are taken in vain, and I can't remember a
film where these offenses were repeated so frequently.
Honestly, someone, somewhere, at some point during the
production of this film, made the conscious decision to
include the profane "GD" or "JC" profanity in nearly every
sentence, in nearly every conversation, in this vulgar,
offensive movie.
I won't comment on anything I found to be redeeming in
this film, since anything even remotely positive was
overshadowed by the overwhelmingly offensive and filthy
language that was shouted at me for over two-and-a-half
hours.
I wished I would have had the resolve to shut it off after
the first few minutes, after my senses were assaulted so
much in those first few minutes that I immediately began
entertaining thoughts to shut it off.
I certainly should have. If you have any sensibilities at
all, I would recommend you not waste your time and money
on this Scorsese(sp?) and DiCaprio piece of filth.

I am 39 years old and found this film Amazingly offensive.
I am very surprised it was rated PG-13. I felt it should
have been rated R. There were literally GD's said in every
scene amongst other expletives. I can't comment on the film
as a whole as I walked out half way through. Before I
walked out it seemed like he was starting a relationship
with a 15 year old girl.

The subject matter of this movie could produce a fabulous
film.
However Martin Scorsese once again manages to put together
an
offensive wonder. The number of GD's comings forth from
the
mouth of babes is truely offensive for anyone that feels
that there
are some things that should not be said. I also agree with
most of
Jeff Vice's review, surprise, surprise. The film was very
short on
putting the story together. Kate's upper lip drove me nuts
everytime I looked at her, however, she did a masterful job
playing
Katherine Hepworth. Just remind me to never, never, never
go to
another Scorsese film.

I liked a lot about the movie. So did wifey. One of
Leonardo's best performances. Blanchett was a delight to
watch and hear. Portrayed well Hughes' talents and
eccentricities. Great flight scenes. You could almost feel
what it was like to be a test pilot; what it was like to be
uber afraid of disease; what it was like to be a locked up
hermit. Felt sympathy for the support staff that put up
with it all. Yes, it's a bit too long. But I was glad to
see it all.
