Reader comments: Babel

Babel is easily one of 2006's best films. Director Alejandro Inarritu expertly blends four family tragedy stories into a compelling narrative about human need, individual rights, family loss and regrettable mistakes. The film deserves its Best Picture Oscar nomination and makes Inarritu's earlier works, Amores Perros and 21 Grams, all the more essential viewing. This is not an easy film. This is not for those who want mindless entertainment and unrealistic happy endings. This is drama. This is truly a film with a global consciousness and a humanistic sensibility.

After working for close to 10 years in the film industry I am appalled at how low some films can fall thinking they are entertaining. This film is one of the lowest and my friends and I walked out of it after only ten or fifteen minutes. It was a diplay of child porn on two seperate scenes in only the first ten or fifteen minutes. Stars such as Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchet should be ashamed to even be connected to this piece of crap. With the talent they Both have I was shocked to see them in such a disgusting film that would certainly be entertaining to any pedifile who chooses to see this waste of time. I'm still, days after, sick to my stomach at the sight of children doing what they did for the whole world to see. Shame on you Brad and Cate!
