Reader comments: The Nativity Story

JIM BEVAN | Dec. 13, 2006
Franco Zeffirelli covered this material more convincingly in his 1977 TV mini-series (available on DVD)...Jesus of Nazareth. The Nativity portion of that production does the "historically accurate" authentic "look and feel" with Zeffirelli's famous eye to detail and with a higher level of art. Olivia Hussey (Juliet in Romeo & Juliet) is a wonderful Mary. Mary's "dilemma" within the context of Jewish law is thoroughly handled. In our family we have shown this version of the Nativity on Christmas Eve (plus or minus a day or two) for the majority of the years since 1977.
