I actually liked this movie, but could have done without the gore because it was really unnecessary to the story. I loved Signs and this wasn't nearly as well done, but it still is an intriguing story....things are not really spelled out for us...which, I like. I thought the actors were fine. Hollywood hates M Night Shyamalan because he's not an insider. That's why I like him.

Wow, I'm stunned at how many of you missed the boat on this one. This movie IS NOT about global warming...wow, really, you shouldn't be writing reviews if that's what you thought it was about. Yes the characters are awkward, Night meant it to be that way! They are innocent and real! They aren't superficial stereotypical heros we are spoonfed by Hollywood in the endless sequals and remakes our theaters have becomes home to. THEY ARE FLAWED ON PURPOSE. This movie, Mr Vice, was labled by Shyamalan himself as a "B movie"- something to go and have a good time at. Something much like a Twilight Zone episode. You fell quite short by assuming he made it otherwise. It is supposed to be taken lightly and innocently...and if you happened to have 2 cents (which you don't, little Jeffy), you will come away with a thought provoking and profound parable. This film doesn't give you everything on a mind-numbing platter like so many of our movies do these days. Seeing Night's films is an experience. You have to be prepared to think, feel and understand the characters. You will not find "hollywood" in his films, but you will find art. I applaud Night for still making art in a world of cliche unoriginality.

I agree 100% with Jeff. This movie is a turkey. Those who liked it are in a very small minority as evidenced by the audience Cinemascore the first weekend of D. This among people who were very motivated to go see it. Shyamalan's movies have gotten progressively worse. Signs was the last good movie he made. I won't waste time or money on him again, even if some studio is stupid enough to give him the money to make another movie.

I actually like this movie quite a bit. It wasn't M. Night's best but better than Signs (my least favorite). I agree with the poster below. M. usually doesn't have the main premise be the "be all, end all", rather has some deeper meanings and issues at hand. On the topic of acting, M. has been, more and more, having his actors be more and more quirky. I didn't think the acting was bad. I can see how people might not have liked the character's individual quirks, but that's how the actors were supposed to portray their characters. If they had acted "normal" this movie would have been a real bore to me, a pretty typical hollywood film. To me, the message wasn't pushed too hard and left to fair amount (not complete) interpretation. It also wasn't a commercial for global warming, more like being environmentally responsible, just "be good to the earth don't abuse it" type of message. there were no melting ice caps or any other tell tale signs that global warming is supposed to do to us. I also agree the other poster that the lion part was pure cheese and dropped the film in my eyes. Physically unrealistic and too much cgi, and ultimately unneeded.

Jeff I think you missed this one unless I'm reading too much into the story. I believed this movie to be a fantastic view and metaphor for social suicide through many means: lack of communication, hostility, destruction of natural resources and other social issues. The acting seemed bland but maybe that was for a reason. I saw this movie realizing that M Night doesn't always place it all out there at first glance and came away with a much deeper message than most people.

I was very disappointed in this movie. Take out the scenes of people killing themselves in disturbing ways and what do you have? Just a bunch of people running from people killing themselves in weird ways. The worst part was watching a lion just pull a guys arm off. Apparently if I pull on someones arm it will just fall off. Don't waste your money on this movie.

wow....was this an awful movie! m. night however you spell his name single handedly ruined the film. i figured if all else fails i love mark wahlburg and zooey deschanel. but the lines he had them reading came off super awkward which resulted in bad performances by both. also the humor he tried to throw in. it again felt forced and awkward. the whole premise is so entirely silly i don't think he could have done anything to fix the film. i could probably go on for a few more pages but to sum it up don't waste you time. i got in free so i don't feel too bad about it. i loved signs and the sixth sense and hope m. night one day returns to his true form.
