This is one of the best movies that I've seen in years. The subject material could have easily driven this in one direction as an absurd comedy played for yucks or in the other direction towards melodrama. It sits somewhere directly between,being a joy of a comedy and sweet enough to draw sniffles from a full-grown man. It's an extremely difficult role for any actor to get just right. Anyone would nearly kill to get their hands as an actor onto this juicy role. In fact, the movie is totally populated by brilliant actors with meaty parts. This is Gosling's breakaway role. dont miss this!
