Reader comments: Hamlet - 1991

I'm not a big fan of Shakespeare, but I had to watch Hamlet for a college literature class, and I loved it (the teacher, who had not seen this version, recommended we not view this one, but nothing else was available and she was very wrong about it). I was also of the opinion that Mel Gibson had little or no talent, an opinion I've had to change. He did a fantastic job and I strongly recommend it.

Most powerfully captivating movie of all time. In many ways I consider this to be more a fact than an opinion. At a ripe young age of 17 I was finally lucky enough to view this movie. Hamlet inspired me to take up drama in college and try to pursue a career as did Mel Gibson. Mel's talents, and the skills of his fellow thesbians was awe inspiring. This timeless classic, is to me Shakespeare's finest tragedy. The play alone, the words written, is enough for me to be completely entertained. With that in mind this movie's was destined to be a complete success.
