Very cute family movie. However, I have one question that desperately needs an answer. I have seen the movie years ago and I have recently been given a question that I do not know the answer to. What is the significance of the turtle doves that Kevin gives to the homeless woman in the movie? In the movie, he gives her one and keeps the other. What for? Can someone please remind me why Kevin does this in the movie? It is driving me crazy. Thank you...please email the answer.

Good movie, but does anyone out there know the name of the black and white gangster movie McCauley is watching?

I love this movie. #1, they don't have an extra ticket at the airport because Kevin's ticket gets thrown in the trash when milk spills during the pizza supper. #2, none of the kids are sitting together in Coach and none of them like to hang with Kevin anyway, so they don't miss him. #3, the neighbors are all gone so Kevin can't go ask for their help...as his parents find out when they try to call from France. Also Kevin likes the idea of having the house to himself because everybody was so rotten to him. (These comments in response to the professional review on this site.) To me the real meaning of "Home Alone" is the perfect, sentimental American holiday that we all want and can never have. Hughes approaches this theme again and again and to me, the slapstick violence is distracting. Home Alone 2 & 3 were not as good as this.

I have to admit it: When I first saw Home Alone several years ago, I did find it fairly amusing. But now when I look at it, it seems mediocre at best. Still, it's at least better than some of the dreadful imitations that John Hughes and even the dreadful Disney studio produced in the following years.

Great Movie. Funny part when Kevin sets up all the traps for the bad guys, yet the movies gets its point across. Beginning is a bit boring though.
