This film showed the way in which many of my friends live
their lives.Drugs, underage sex and skateboards are part of
everyday life for them and the film showed the peak of
reality. Im only 13 but i think that the film showed raw
real life and many people think that young teenagers dont
live like that but they do and this film hits the truth
head on. Its now my favourite film.
NICK LASKIN | Nov. 29, 2002
KIDS is gritty, honest and well-made. It will probably
disturb many people,(due to it' s unflinching portrayl of
teen sex, drug use and violence) but I am 14 years old,
and I can tell you, I am not like any of the kids in the
movie, but I have experienced some of these things
firsthand. Leo Fitzpatrick is an unpolished diamond in a
batch of talentless teen actors, and in KIDS, he gives
his best performance yet. Not as good as Bully, but
definitley worth a watch.

A lot of movies have no story line or state many o any
facts but sell (TITANIC).
I think the movie had to tell even more it is to the dismay
of all you snobs life in the big ghetto any city usa. So
tell me who out there in this big stage of life has a plot
in
their life? No answer to this question. You wil be lying
to yourself again.
JESSICA BAILEY | Dec. 17, 2001
Yes to some the movie maybe disturbing, but out of all the
teen movies, this one is much more realistic. I am 17 years
old and have seen such things (in the movie) happen before
in my very own life. I am not a drug abuser nor do I engage
in pre-marital sex, but sadly the events in the movie are
real. People are disturbed by this movie because we'd
rather believe that kids are having slumber parties and
hanging out at the mall. But here's a thought do you
honestly know where your kids are right now, this minute? I
rated this movie 3 stars because I watch plenty of movies;
anything from Shrek to Eyes Wide Shut, so to me this was
just another movie, a matter of fact I am online right
trying to find the movie for a friend. For those who are
disgusted with this movie, if it makes you feel any better,
in my town, the movie is impossible to find, blockbuster
doesn't even carry it.
CHANTELLE | Nov. 29, 2001
Okay well this was the best movie, like ya sure it was
educational watever... but just as a movie it was good and
real, no matter wat any of these people say. Okay
and 'Budog' or watever your name was i no you won't even
see this cuz you came here in like '99 but still, uh.. i
think that your the loser saying that getting aids was good
for the kids in the movie?? and if in your neighborhood
kids that get drunk and have parties are considered lowlife
punks... well wat kinda neighborhood are you from???? okay
well im not supposed to "harrass other users" so okay im
just saying that its kinda stupid saying that the kids in
the movies should jump off a cliff.. because their parents
dont care about them. but thats your opinion so okay
watever. but anyways i loved this movie it was so good why
did everybody hate it so much did you think it was just too
gross well guess wat thats what happens in real life so get
used to it... sorry but , its true. Anybody that says this
movie was unrealistic and over-exaggerated, obviously don't
get out too much, or are too old to be watching this movie
anyway. because guys like Telly aren't at all rare, its
called a PLAYER not a weird word, and aids is a real
problem the movie didn't really invent it. and there are
such things as rape, parties, raves, alcohol, drugs, and
all the other issues in this movie; so no, this movie
wasn't unrealistic or over-the-edge or watever else you all
said. so if you havent seen this movie well you probably
wouldnt be reading this then , but anyways get this movie
if your 13-19 and isnt scared to know whats really going on
in the world.
[i would give this more stars if i could]

Kids is possibly one of the greatest movies ever made. The
cinemetography, ad-lib acting and satirical comedy are just
a few of its awe-inspiring assets. Its one of those things
that takes ugly ugly subject matter and turns it into a
thing of immense beauty. chloe sevigny is stunning and
obvoiusly extremely talented. thats all, its awesome.
AMETHYST | Jul. 19, 2000
THIS MOVIE IS CRAP! ONLY A RETARD WOULD LET THIS OUT TO THE
PUBLIC!
NANCY | Jul. 12, 2000
it was real and true to life. all kids should see this.
ALEX STOBART -16 YEAR OLD MALE | Jul. 6, 2000
I've only just discovered the film KIDS and I would just
like to say to all of the shocked adults, Wake up people.
Life is similar for a majority of teenagers as it was
potrayed in this film. My friends smoke weed and throw
parties and we get drunk......So what! Except we dont have
aids, anyways, I just like to say it is a top film and
should be more popular than it is.
Later people.

BEAU MADDERN | May. 12, 2000
This is what youth is about, and its about time someone
showed it to adults. I do not live in US but this kind of
behaviour is constant throughout the world. When Casper and
Telly go to Pauls house at the beginning, the behaviour
they display is common where any young males congregate and
their sexist attitudes and deploring women as objects ( "
You gotta be smooth and romantic, like you give a f**k or
something " ) are just the guttermouth that all youth have.
By the way, can anybody tell me who that guy is that wakes
up at pauls house and starts to ramble about AIDS being a
myth? He is wearing a grey t shirt. I know his name is
Billy Waldman and he used to skate for World Industries
about six years ago.
CHRISTOPHER RUSCH | May. 5, 2000
correction, they kill a man that attacks casper. not a gay
guy, next time watch more carefully if your going to write
a review
17 YEAR OLD GIRL | May. 3, 2000
I feel that the movie kids is a masterpiece. It
realisticly depicts the everyday lives of many teens in
America. You do not have to go to a big city to find this
kind of behavior, a lot of it is housed in suburban like
settings, maybe even in your home. Watching the movie for
the first time was eary, from the drug use to the way they
talked, these kids reminded me too much of my own friends.
To call these kids losers is an unfair judgement. They are
simply growing up in a time that is way too harsh, and they
are trying to live through it. the documentary like affect
is what give this movie substance, makes it mean
something. These actors could easily be your best friend,
your boyfriend. I would recomend every teenager, every
parent, every grandparent sees this movie and realizes it
is a rough world out there. "Kids" is the wakeup call that
America needed.
DANNY YETTER | Apr. 28, 2000
Great movie! It's about time they realize whats really
going on. Big ups to Rune Glifberg for great performance.
RANCID(16) | Mar. 31, 2000
This was the most shocking film I've ever seen.
I believe it contains elements of truth and represents
VIVIDLY a definite moral and cultural trend developing
amoung todays teenagers.
Its intended message seemed clouded and I am left wondering
what the director meant to convey?
Certainly razor sharp..-but in no direction.
CASPER | Mar. 23, 2000
in the movie KIDS by layyr clark they dont beat up and
nearly kill a boy who is gay they beat up a black kid who
casper hit into w/ his skateboard and he wanted to fight
thats why they beat him to near death.
by a loyal fan of kids
CHRISTINA | Mar. 19, 2000
'KIDS' speaks to me like no other movie. My friends and i
all agree that it portrays skater kids perfectly. Casper
and Telly are like real kids that i know. KIDS is real.
STEVE | Mar. 14, 2000
kids was absolutely the most disterbing movie i have ever
seen. the movie is about the real life of teenage punks.
although disterbing it was the best movie i have ever seen
and potrays a message of sex in the teen population.
MARTA | Jan. 26, 2000
I thought this movie was really good, because I'm a
teenager
my-self and I know that that kind of stuff goes on. Maybe
its not as bad as the movie showed it, but it still bothers
me.
KEITH BRINGS | Oct. 29, 1999
Although one will quickly admit that kids is not true to
life, and is clearly being audacious to play it's self off
as some socio-ethic concerned drama I still believe that it
is still deserving of 4 stars. It's vulgar, but then there
is an artform to vulgarity. Further the positions these
children are in do reflect true life to an extent, and i
have been in similair situations myself. . . I do so love
my high school drinking parties. . . and seing the movie i
believe may have positive effect upon my brethen youth. so
in short, it seems to have been a good movie.
BUDOG | Sept. 22, 1999
These "kids" are a bunch of low life punks who wouldn't
last 5 seconds in my neighorhood. Growing up, most kids
would not take advantage of a drunk(or drugged) out girl.
We would take care of her, to ensure her safty. Not these
kids. Raping little girls of 12 to 15 yrs. old, drugs,
alcohol, ganging up on one guy in a fight, stealing. No
morals, no honor, no guts,no pride in themselves. What a
bunch of losers. AIDS is the best thing to happen to them(I
know that is horrible). What can these "kids" give to
society? Only crime, children pregant, innocent people being
hurt, robbed, raped or killed.Living off the tax payings.
The parents of kids like these are problem. So worried
about their own lives, not caring about their children.
Just keep them out of their hair so the parents can do
their"thing". My advice to "kids" like these in this movie"
jump in the river, you are not wanted or needed"
JOHN PATTON | Sept. 8, 1999
Kids was a great movie, it lets teens know about the
consequences of drinking, drugs and unprotected sex in an
entertaining and realistic way. Most teens are drinking,
doing drugs and having sex so why not deal with these
issues
in a way they can relate to?

CARA | Sept. 4, 1999
I think that Kida was a wake up call to the teen
community. It tells it how it is weather you like it or
not.
VANESSA | Aug. 14, 1999
Though the movie and the "truth" it tells is highly
exaggerated, the movie is a wake up call. There are kids
on the streets (and in the plazas of "nice" suburban
neighborhoods)whose main concern is getting stoned, laid
drunk and drugged. That does not mean however that the
entire population of teenagers are like this which I
believe the movie states. But besides the complete
exaggerations the movie has, it's just a harmless flim
about some stupid urban kids who are just having what they
conider a good time despite the possible consquences.
After all, teenagers think they're invisible (which if the
movie has any point that should be it) so why is everyone
making such a fuss?
HYPHEN | Apr. 26, 1999
This film is awful. It's not a "wake-up call", it's
exploitation. The film goes nowhere. A group of low-life
teens with nothing better to do roam the city. There's
only a shred of a story-line behind it. The ending is
ridiculous. Casper's final scene with Jennie goes on too
long. It would be much more powerful if only a few seconds
was shown, then cut to the credits. After an
excruciatingly long time watching Casper and Jennie, a
random montage of city scenes is shown. Why? There's not
a single line of naration throughout the whole film, but
suddenly, at the end, we hear Telly announcing that this is
all he has. The closing naration is completely
inconsistant with the rest of the film. It's also
unnecessary. The audience doesn't need to be hand-fed the
moral of the story, however, that is consistant with the
rest of the film which lacks any sort of subtlety.
In the film's defense, the acting is wonderful. I have to
say that it was a wonderful idea to pick a group of such
strong unknown actors, even if their characters aren't
developed enough throughout the film.
If you want to see this film done right, rent La Haine
(Hate) by Mathieu Kassovitz. It does a much better job of
telling the story of a hopeless youth.
JACQUELINE | Mar. 29, 1999
I believe this movie is very educational. No one believes they will ever get AIDS. This movie points out to its viewers that it only takes having sex with one person to contract a disease. Girls as young as 13 and below are being exposed to AIDS in this movie and in real life. Parents need to educate their kids at a very early age. AIDS is very real and society needs to shelter kids less and inform them of the dangers in the world.
CINDY | Feb. 15, 1999
Although I think that this movie contains alot of sex,
drugs, and teen porn, I have to give it 4 stars. This movie
shows what society is really like and shows it in all of
its reality. Parents have to understand that in the real
world not every KID says no to drugs or sex. Its a way of
life and instead of pushing KIDS to say NO then they should
be pushing them to stay safe. I mean no parent wants there
kids to have sex at 14-15 years old or be exposed to drugs
at such a young age but the truth is that they can't stop
it. If they can't stop it then they should help it. Let
your kids know that no matter what you are there for them
and will be there if they need to talk about anything.
Teach them about HIV and condoms. Let them know what side
effects drugs can have and that sharing needles can kill
them. I'm not saying that drugs and sex are good at all.
All I'm saying is that this movie shows us what is REALLY
out there and it doesn't try to cover up what lives we
really live. It's real and it's the story of some people's
lives. It should be watched by parents and children not as
entertainment but as an educational film.
