Reader comments: The Kingdom

TYSONATTHEMOVIES | Oct. 14, 2007
Enough of the rating comments because they are irrelevent to the quality of the Kingdom as a work of film, but if you are truly that sensitive about it go to screen it dot com or just avoid rate R movies altogether. The movie had an interesting point brought up when the parallels of Jamie Foxx and the terrorist stating that they both whispered that they were going to "kill them all" to Jennifer Garner and his granddaughter, respectively, showing that on both sides of conflict one sees himself or herself as being right. The plot was somewhat jaded and the camera work and film stock seemed like it was trying to be a report from CNN or CSPAN which made the narrative somewhat boring, but overall a decent movie worth seeing at least once.

Dear Anonymouse, This movie is "real life?" What planet are you on?

This movie has great action (violence not sex) I don't understand why the critics have been so critical. It is intense and the political message is also there. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes a good action movie.

It always surprises me that people are fine with seeing people shoot, and kill, the violence and the gore are ok. But if someone is nude they get offended. I think we are not suppose to kill, but it really is ok to have sex, not that I like to watch it but it is less offensive and repulsive then violence. This movie is not real life.

I'm actually thrilled to finally see a little jingoism on screen. It's overdue escapism that actually paints bad guys as bad guys. With 98% of all real-world terrorism being perpetrated by (gasp) those of the Wahhabist Saudi tradition, I look forward to seeing them get their just rewards on screen once in a while. This bend-over-backward-navel-gazing tendency we have to look everywhere BUT at the real problem is irritating. I'm happy to let the fois-grois and croissant crowd congratulate each other over the superficial, insipid "insight" that they gain from the oh-so-self-knowing wisdom of "in the Valley of Elah" and "Paradise Now". I'll happily take a break and enjoy Jamie Fox and Jennifer Gardner kick a little terrorist butt onscreen. It certainly is an infrequent pleasure these days.

Can you please be more detailed...... You said there is sex in the movie. I don't want to get there and be upset if there is nudity. Thank You

I am concerned. Why profanity in this movies and so many upcoming movies? This type of content takes away from a great story line.
