So it contained nudity, vomiting, profanity and ooh, shock horror(!) some jokes about religion. Well, if you have problems with that, you'd better avoid the cinema all together. I've seen pointless excessive violence, close-ups of drug-taking, lynching, suicide etc... and that's just from watching the news at ten. I believe in God, but i can see where the joke lies and frankly, i laughed my pants off! It's so refreshing to see Harrelson donning a bald pat headpiece, beer belly and hook-hand after countless films of himslef playing the dumb but hunky hero, obviously if you can't leave your critical, psychologically analytical brain at the door of the movie theatre for once for the sheer pleasure of 1 hour and 40 minutes of low-brain, belly laugh toilet humour, then avoid this film. I thought the jokes were funny, the selection of tragic wigs most savoury, and it didn't give the old Amish a bad image at all, only everyone else in the film! Bill Murray as the smarmy, deadpan creep McCracken is hilarious and as for the send up of "Indecent Proposal" in the casino which Harrelson himself was in, thank god there are still actors who appreciate that it's not necessary to always take yourself seriously to be good. If you liked American Pie, There's Something About Mary and good general dumb movies then go rent the video, it'll brighten up any rainy day, and the soundtrack is chill too. You might not remember it, it's not a smash hit, but you'll enjoy it while it lasts!

After they dared to make this filthy movie, I'd like to give the Farrelly brothers a good thrashing. The film's obsession with making fun of even religion is another one of many signs about how Hollywood is even anti-religious these days. One sure thing, they were almost always chauvinistic, and that's why Vanessa Angel's only job here is to serve as attractive wallpaper. Anyone who puts money into the pockets of the Farrelly's, as they did when the two siblings made Dumb and Dumber is only paying tribute to a pair of perverts whose sole intention is to breed more such monsters. Think about it.

i don't know who this jeff vince guy is but he was way wrong about kingpin. i think that kingpin is one of the funniest films of 1996 and of all time. this film features great acting, a funny screenplay and great directing. kingpin is very good and extremly funny. woody harrleson, randy quaid, and bill murray all turn in great performances. kingpin is one hell of a comedy.
