Camilla

"Camilla" stars the late Jessica Tandy as a retired violinist who befriends a lonely young aspiring musician (Bridget Fonda). As their relationship grows, they decide to hit the road together and drive from Georgia to Canada for a concert. Meanwhile, Tandy's grown son and Fonda's aimless husband, who are unappreciative louts, comically track them down. The film is disjointed and unfocused but has some sweet and humorous moments. A cameo by Graham Greene is a bizarre waste, but a visit with Tandy's old flame, played by her real-life husband Hume Cronyn, is warm and touching.
Despite the film's flaws, however, it's wonderful to see Tandy so vibrant, giving her all in the last performance of her life. That alone makes the film worth seeing.
